Managed Hosting

Cube Host manages the health and up-time of the server itself and the software on it; you are able to control the content and services that run on the machine. Cube Host maintains root access for ourselves to be able to maintain your server. Managed hosting includes several hours of Administrative consulting each month so we may implement software updates, backups/restores and other administrative tasks at your request.

Unmanaged Hosting

We supply the hardware, IP address, Internet connectivity and the initial software configuration, you provide the rest. Maintenance of the server day to day is up to you, as is maintaining a secure server. You have access to the root account on your server, as does Cube Host in case of emergency.

Both styles of hosting offer the following advantages:

• Run whatever web-serving software you want
• Ability to run streaming media servers
• Ability to run real time game daemons
• Ability to run IRC daemons
• Ability to run as many 'bots' as you wish
• As many shell accounts as you wish
• Host as many domains as you wish
• Host as many FTP sites as you can (typically limited by the number of IP addresses you have)
• Use as much storage space as you set up on the server
• Full compiler and shell access
• Run whatever mail software you wish

Dedicated hosting is priced on the bandwidth/transfer you use, and the box you choose to host upon. To keep inventory costs down, we maintain only a few spare server configurations in-house and will typically acquire hardware when you order your hosting package. This offers the advantage that you can specify in detail what you need for your instance with only a few days of lead time if one of our default configurations isn't the right fit.

Your disk space is typically allocated from our high performance, redundant disk servers. This provides an inexpensive way to not only get the performance and safety of enterprise-class data storage, but also save on costs by allocating disk to your server(s) in 100MB increments.

Your disk allocation can be connected to one or more dedicated servers, allowing you to have a redundant cluster of servers, or other enterprise class configurations for a fraction of the price of acquiring the hardware yourself. For the ultimate in speed, connections from your servers to the disk farm are through gigabit Ethernet!

Although we primarily deal only with Linux and BSD, if you wish a Windows based dedicated host, contact us as we can configure them for you. Prices start at just $20 more per month than the configurations below.

Example Mini Configurations

Cube Host's Mini servers are ideal for most personal and small business dedicated hosting needs. They provide the level of control and security of dedicated resources without a high price tag.

Even though these servers are called 'Mini' reading the specifications, you will see that each one could easily flood the 100Base-Tx connection they have to the Internet. Every server comes with at least 256 MB of memory. We don't believe that saving $10 by configuring a server with a low amount of memory serves anyone well, so we never do!
